The 2010 NFL Draft weighs heavy on my thoughts these days. So for a quick distraction, I have decided to figure out who the Browns are going to play this season, and figure out if the schedule looks tough, or optimistic. Of course the dates aren’t released yet. For a team rebuilding, an easier schedule can cause a huge break.
This season the Browns will be playing against the AFC East, and the NFC South. Of course we will see opponents from the AFC North twice, and then sprinkle in Jacksonville and Kansas City as well. The bad news is that the Browns will have to play the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints this year, the New England Patriots, and the New York Jets who made to the AFC Championship; along with Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Cincinnati twice. The good news is that Cleveland will also get to play Buffalo, Miami, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Tampa Bay, and Carolina. (Note: Those teams are also cheering about getting to play the Browns.)
There are a couple of interesting story lines to follow this season. This will be the first time that Coach Eric Mangini will get to play against his former team the New York Jets. Also, free agent quarterback pick-up Jake Delhomme will get a chance to make a statement against his former team, the Carolina Panthers, for cutting him this offseason… if Delhomme wins the starting job. Also, the Browns will get the chance to be reunited with former cast away players TE Kellen Winslow and WR Braylon Edwards who are playing for Tampa Bay and the Jets respectively.

The season has a few tough teams to play against, but there are some very beatable teams on the docket too. Cleveland was 5-11 last season, so prior tot he draft and other fluid situations in the NFL, my guess is that mark is acheivable again, and the browns could push it to 6-10 or even 7-9.

Do you feel we need to be looking at a QB in the 1st or 2nd round? I would prefer to have a safer sure thing in round 1 that is an impact player. It looks 1st round QB’s are usually busts.
