Indians Rain on the Cavaliers Parade
In what seems to be a “Hey look at me “move, the Indians called a press conference yesterday to announce a change in the front office. Long-time general manager Mark Shapiro will be promoted to president after the season and be succeeded as GM by his assistant, Chris Antonetti. The current team president, Paul Dolan, will become the chairman and CEO, titles held by his father, team owner Larry Dolan. Here is the fun part, the move will not happen until the season ends in October 2010. Well, let’s be fair, the move will happen about a month earlier when the Indians season is really over.
This news would be worthy of a press conference however, Indians called this press conference on the same day that the Cleveland Cavaliers were to introduce “the final piece” Antawn Jamison.
Why? It really couldn’t wait one more day until Friday?
This is the Cavaliers time, season, and focus of this city, a city that has pretty much written off the Cleveland Indians lately. The organization should have realized that this was a day that the Cavaliers were announcing that they are “all in this year” and laid low until it was their time.
Pulling at the spotlight like this appears to be an attention grab for an attention deprived team. Bad form Indians, bad form.

They did it to avoid having to answer why they won’t spend money. Not to grab the spotlight, but to avoid it
Yeah, what better way to make a move that noone will have a chance to question you on than to do it when the more popular team is announcing their big addition next door… I wonder if any press even showed up to this announcement.
